COMPARE · BROKER APPS
KTrade, AKD TradePro, JS, Topline, a bank’s trading app — every broker app does one thing Equivest never will: execute. And every broker app has one limit Equivest was built to remove: it sees one account. The two are not rivals. They sit next to each other.
THE SHORT VERSION
The broker app is where you act. Equivest is where you understand.
KEEP THE BROKER APP FOR
Orders, funding, contract notes, IPO applications.
ADD EQUIVEST FOR
One portfolio across brokers, dividend math, the coach, the community.

| Capability | Equivest | Broker app |
|---|---|---|
| Places orders on PSX Only a licensed broker can execute. Every broker app does; Equivest never will. It is a tracker with no execution path anywhere in the product. | — no | ✓ yes |
| Holds your shares and the official record Your broker and the CDC sub-account are the legal record of what you own — contract notes, ledgers, tax certificates. Equivest is a view on top of that record, never a replacement for it. | — no | ✓ yes |
| Sees holdings across several brokers A broker app sees that broker’s account only. If you hold shares with two houses, or moved brokers last year, neither app shows the whole picture. Equivest is broker-agnostic: import from each and see one portfolio. | ✓ yes | — no |
| Works without a broker login Equivest never asks for broker credentials. There is nothing to link and nothing to expire. A broker app, by definition, is your account. | ✓ yes | — no |
| Set-up from a screenshot or pasted statement Screenshot the holdings screen of any broker app and Equivest reads it into symbol, quantity and average cost for review. Broker apps do not need this for their own account — and cannot do it for anyone else’s. | ✓ yes | — no |
| Weighted-average cost kept correct after bonus, rights and splits Brokers compute average cost differently after corporate actions: some rebase the average when bonus shares arrive, some leave the original cost against the original quantity, some include levies and some do not. Equivest shows the effect on your share count and average cost before book closure, the same way every time. | ✓ yes | varies |
| Closed positions and realised gains kept in view A broker’s portfolio tab shows open positions. Equivest keeps closed positions in a rolling one-year view with realised gain, so nothing vanishes when you exit. | ✓ yes | varies |
| Price alerts and watchlist Most broker apps have both. Equivest’s alerts sit on any PSX symbol with NEAR and HIT badges, and the watchlist shows live prices next to your alerts. | ✓ yes | ✓ yes |
| Portfolio Coach Eight deterministic checks every session — concentration, sector tilt, performance against the KSE-100 and more. Rules you can read; it flags, you decide. | ✓ yes | — no |
| Follow top investors (Whale Watch) Whale Watch ranks the top PSX investors on Equivest by return, with their seven-day net flow and recent moves. Broker apps are single-account by design and carry no social layer. | ✓ yes | — no |
| Shariah screening and Zakat calculator Equivest applies the KMI-30 / KMI All-Share methodology as a filter across search, watchlist and pies, and computes Zakat with nisab and hawl tracked. Some brokers flag Shariah status; few compute Zakat. | ✓ yes | varies |
| English and Urdu Equivest flips to اردو from Settings. Language support differs by broker. | ✓ yes | varies |
| Privacy levels and a share card Four visibility levels, a one-tap mask that blanks every rupee amount, and a 9:16 card for Stories. Not something a broker app is for. | ✓ yes | — no |
| IPO tracking Both, differently. Your broker (or bank) is where you apply. Equivest lists upcoming and recent PSX listings with subscription windows; record your bid and listing-day P&L shows up on its own. | ✓ yes | ✓ yes |
| Free Broker apps are free to install; you pay commission on trades. Equivest is free with no commission, because it never trades. | ✓ yes | ✓ yes |
HONESTLY
One more honest note: Equivest carries no execution risk, because it executes nothing. That is what makes it a calm second view of your portfolio on the days your broker's app is under load — a reason to keep both, not a reason to leave your broker.
No. Equivest never asks for broker credentials and has no link to your account. You bring holdings in with a screenshot, a pasted statement or one-tap Smart Log, and you stay signed in to your broker as before.
No. Equivest is a tracker with no execution path. Orders go through your licensed broker, as they do today.
Brokers treat corporate actions differently — some rebase the average after a bonus issue, others keep the original cost against the original quantity, and levies may or may not be included. Equivest applies one consistent method and shows the effect on your share count and average cost before book closure.
